Andrew Shinnie, born on 17 July 1989 (age 36), is a Scottish midfielder with Livingston. He came through at Rangers, but the more useful part of his early education came away from the main stage, with a loan spell at Dundee giving him senior football before he had properly settled into a first-team career.
His move to Inverness CT in 2011 was the making of him. Shinnie became an important player there, and his best league season came in 2012-13, when he scored 12 goals in 38 appearances. For a midfielder, that was a serious return rather than a statistical accident.
Birmingham City took him south in 2013, and his career then ran through the English leagues, including spells with Luton Town and Charlton Athletic. He was never a headline act, but he was a useful, technically tidy midfielder who could operate between the lines and contribute without needing the game built around him.
Shinnie later joined Livingston, where he has worn the number 22 shirt. In 2025-26, he has made six league appearances without scoring, plus one League Cup outing. His current market value is around £43,000, according to Transfermarkt.
Across his career, Shinnie has moved from academy promise to steady senior professional, with his Inverness years still standing as the most productive stretch. At Livingston, he remains an experienced midfield option rather than a central figure.
