The subject of our inquiry today is Andreas Skov Olsen, a fine specimen of Danish footballing stock, popped into the world on the 29th of December, 1999 (which makes him 26 years young). Comfortable hustling things up as a right winger, Skov Olsen currently plies his trade for a certain club named Rangers. Would you believe, the chap is a remarkable 6ft 1in (or 1.87m for those who insist on precise metric measurement), with a trim weight of 11st 11lb (equating to 75kg). For reasons that are likely numerological, karmic or perhaps just a quirk of chance, he parades around in a number 7 jersey. Indeed, his exploits have not gone unnoticed in his homeland, for he’s done his bit playing for the national team of Denmark.
Now, it wouldn’t be fair to discuss a player without a nod to the almighty market value, would it? According to the oracle that is Transfermarkt, our Mr Skov Olsen has a market value hovering around the £8.5m ballpark. Not exactly chump change, I dare say.
Right, then. To tackle the chronology of his career: it started earnestly enough -in July 2015, to be precise- when Skov Olsen joined FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark's Superliga as a green-as-clover trainee. His 2017-18 season debut had him making three appearances, which rather swelled in the following season (2018-19), to 26 appearances and 19 (frankly impressive) goals.
In July 2019, Skov Olsen fancied a warmer climate, making the switch from FC Nordsjaelland to Bologna in Italy's Serie A for a rather modest transfer fee of roughly £6.7m. Over three seasons he clocked up 70 appearances and a somewhat less proportionate three goals.
Come January 2022, Olsen took another leap, this time to Club Brugge in Belgium's Pro League, for a more substantial packet of £8.4m. He made himself rather comfortable there, racking up 77 appearances and 29 goals over three full seasons.
Yet apparently the desire for new challenges (or perhaps just some delectable German beer) saw Skov Olsen move on to Wolfsburg in Germany’s Bundesliga in January 2025, for a beefy sum of £12m. Here, he made 20 appearances and managed a less-than-memorable 2 goals across two seasons.
Hopping across to Rangers in Scotland's Premiership on loan in January 2026, Skov Olsen appears to be settling in nicely, with 6 appearances and the solitary goal thus far in the current (2025-26) season. His globe-trotting career has also seen him suit up for some international duty in the 2024-26 World Cup qualifiers for Denmark with one start, and the Scottish Cup 2025-26 for Rangers, again starting one match.
It's quite the resume, when you take the time to read between the lines. Though perhaps a wee bit journeyman for some tastes, Skov Olsen seems to be just as happy chasing the round thing across the park, no matter the colour of the kit he's wearing or the accent he hears from the terraces.
