Alex Paulsen, born on 4 July 2002 (age 24), is a New Zealand goalkeeper with Motherwell. At 6ft 4in (1.93m), he has the imposing frame expected of a modern penalty-box keeper, though the more useful question is always what he does with it.
His senior league record first took shape at Wellington Phoenix. In 2021â22, he made four league appearances, a modest foothold rather than a breakthrough season, but enough to put him on the professional track.
At Motherwell, Paulsen has been more involved in 2026â27, with nine league appearances and six in the Conference League qualifiers, taking him to 15 appearances in all competitions for the club. His career is still at the developing stage: New Zealand, Wellington Phoenix, then Motherwell, with the next part dependent on whether he turns those opportunities into something more settled.
