Alex Gogic, born 13 April 1994, hails from the sun-kissed shores of Cyprus. Once known more commonly for its sandy beaches than its footballing prowess, Cyprus can take great pride in producing this defender of some repute. Gogic towers over many of his counterparts at an imposing 6ft (1.85m) and tips the scales at 13 stones (83kg).
He burst onto the world stage in 2013, trading the picturesque vistas of the Greek Super League and Olympiacos, for the rolling hills of Wales and the intensity of the English Championship with Swansea City. This was a move of considerable significance.
After a somewhat tectonic shift in his football career in February 2017, Gogic secured a move to the Scottish Lands of Hamilton Academical in League One. After making an initial seven appearances in his opening season, the 2017 - 2018 season saw him emerge onto the field 18 times, netting his first goal in Scottish football. The following two seasons saw sturdy performances at Hamilton; clear evidence of his growing influence and maturity as a central defender.
The summer of 2020 heralded a significant change in Gogic's fortunes as he transferred from Hamilton Academical to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. Throughout season 2020 - 2021, he made 34 appearances and was instrumental in scoring a pivotal goal. In the 2021 - 2022 season, despite only making nine appearances for Hibernian, the Cypriot defender continued to make strides.
As the 2022 Winter chill set in, Gogic once again found his services in demand. This time, it was St Mirren, also of the Premiership, who secured his services on a loan deal. He made a promising start, with 13 appearances and a sole goal to his name. His performances at St Mirren improved noticeably, with his influence (and goal tally) steadily growing over the seasons.
In the roulette wheel of football transfers, Gogic found himself moving permanently from Hibernian to St Mirren in the summer of 2022. His performance in the following seasons only cemented his standing at St Mirren, where he featured regularly while contributing with vital goals.
Gogic isn't just a stalwart for the club scenes but also makes notable appearances on the international front. He turned out for Cyprus in the Euro Qualifiers and the Nations League, marking important starts in each. His performance in the Scottish Cup and the League Cup for St Mirren is also worthy of mention, with consistent appearances and a notable goal in the 2025 - 2026 season of the League Cup.
