Albian Ajeti, born on 26 February 1997 (age 29), is a Swiss striker now with Lugano. His career has been shaped most clearly by Basel, where he has made 141 league appearances and scored 47 league goals across 10 seasons.
Basel gave Ajeti his main platform after the loan football that helped move him on from promise to first-team responsibility. His strongest league season came in 2017-2018, when he scored 14 goals in 25 appearances, the kind of return that made the next move abroad feel logical enough.
That move eventually took him to West Ham United, and from there to Celtic in August 2020 for around £4.5m. It was a substantial fee for a forward expected to add penalty-box threat, but his time in Glasgow never quite settled into the shape Celtic would have wanted.
