Born on the 18th of July 2002, Adam Montgomery, a spry Scot, was always destined for the beautiful game. He became part of Celtic's youth training programme in July 2009, with his sprightly size perfectly suited to his role as a left back, standing at a respectable 5ft 8 inches (1.73 metres) and weighing in at a solid 9st 6lbs (60kg).
It wasn't until the 2020-2021 season when Montgomery wore the favoured number 37 jersey for the first time on the pitch in Celtic Park, making two first team appearances. This increased the following season with Montgomery getting eight opportunities to grace the pitch, however in the current 2025-2026 season, he's yet to make an appearance.
He was then loaned out to fellow Premiership team Aberdeen in January 2022, where he made a handful of seven appearances. Having completed his loan, he returned to Celtic before being loaned out once more, this time to St Johnstone in the Championship in July 2022. This change suited him well as he managed to make an impressive 28 league appearances.
Celtic's revolving loan door continued to turn, as Montgomery soon found himself at Fleetwood Town in England's League Two division in July 2023. After a short stint, he made his return to Celtic in January 2024 only to be swiftly loaned out to Motherwell. This time the loan wasn't to last long, and by February he was back at Celtic.
Never the type to rest, Montgomery was loaned out once more in February 2025 to Queen's Park, where he made a revered 12 appearances and even scored a goal in the 2024-2025 season.
Once the loan term was over, Villa Park waved goodbye as he went to Celtic before he was loaned out yet again, this time to Livingston in the 2025-2026 season where his solid defence was called upon in eight matches. After this, Montgomery once again found himself returning to Celtic in January 2026.
As familiar patterns go, Montgomery is currently waiting for another shot at the first team at Celtic, having made no appearances in the 2025-2026 season. It's clear that the Scot is no stranger to change, maintaining a strong performance throughout his revolving tenures, always returning to his Celtic roots.
